mValent Integrates with IBM Tivoli Software,
Joins OPAL Program

Integrated IBM Tivoli and mValent Solution Delivers Automated Configuration Management and Provisioning for On Demand™ Applications

Burlington, MA – June 6, 2005 – mValent, a leader in automated configuration management software, has joined the IBM Open Process Automation Library (OPAL) initiative, designed to capture IT best practices and turn them into automation packages for automating manual, repetitive IT tasks. mValent’s participation in the IBM OPAL initiative assures customers that mValent’s technology can be used easily and efficiently to automate application configuration management within IBM’s On Demand operating environment and recently announced IT Service Management offerings.

In addition, mValent’s Infrastructure Automation Suite™ has been validated “Ready for IBM Tivoli Software.” This designation is granted to those vendors who have developed tight integration with the Tivoli product line to make it easy for customers to build and deploy On Demand applications.

The mValent Infrastructure Automation Suite employs a Dynamic Configuration Model™ to intelligently equip companies with the ability to ensure that software initiatives are properly defined and resources are properly provisioned to be successful. The solution delivers automation, repeatability and manageability to infrastructure configuration management, saving large corporations thousands of man-hours, eliminating errors and speeding the application deployment process.

mValent has developed, with IBM Tivoli, an automation package to provide a complete, end-to-end solution for provisioning and lifecycle configuration management. Joint customers benefit from faster application deployment, streamlined IT processes and dramatically reduced risk of human error in day-to-day configuration, change and release management routines.

“The mValent and Tivoli solutions represent a powerful combination for companies that rely heavily on web-based applications to drive competitive advantage,” said Lou Bifano, vice president, business development, IBM Tivoli Software. “This solution ensures that an application can run in the right environment, drawing on the right resources, and configured to deliver optimum results. All of which is achieved in a standards-based way, without laborious manual involvement.”

The mValent Infrastructure Automation Suite spares IT personnel from having to manage configuration details for infrastructure components like web servers, app servers, and databases. In addition to increased visibility, mValent technology offers a convenient way to track and compare configuration settings and automate configuration tasks such as cloning and provisioning infrastructure environments.

“The seamless integration with IBM Tivoli allows us to jointly deliver solutions that help our customers easily and automatically manage complex application infrastructures,” said Swapnil Shah, president and CEO of mValent. “This announcement extends the existing mValent and IBM relationship in providing efficient ways to manage the applications that support critical business functions.”
