mValent’s Application Configuration
Management Solutions Integrate with Autonomic Computing Technology
Supports mValent’s Leadership in Easing Application Change and Configuration Management, Lowering IT Costs and Reducing Risks of Error and Downtime
Burlington, MA – August 2, 2005 – mValent, a leader in automated application configuration management software , today announced an offering that leverages self-managing autonomic technology from IBM to help enterprises reduce IT costs and complexity.
By integrating mValent’s Infrastructure Automation Suite™ with self-managing autonomic technology from the IBM Autonomic Computing Toolkit, joint customers can increase automation with better intelligence and drive closer to self-healing management of applications. mValent is a member of IBM’s Open Process Automation Library (OPAL) initiative and has been designated “Ready for IBM Tivoli Software” through tight integration with the IBM Tivoli product line. These efforts allow mValent’s offerings to operate in environments that incorporate the Tivoli Change and Configuration Management Database, enabling its products to be managed in an IT Service Management context.
“We are pleased to be working with mValent through our IBM autonomic computing business partner initiative to incorporate self-managing autonomic technology into their application configuration management solutions,” said David Bartlett, vice president, Autonomic Computing for IBM. “By working with our business partners to add autonomic capabilities to their products, our mutual customers can enhance visibility and control across enterprise applications and reap the benefits of self-managing systems.”
“One of the core four requirements of the self-managing systems envisioned by the autonomic computing vision is self-configuration,” said Swapnil Shah, mValent’s president and CEO. “mValent’s integration with technology from the IBM Autonomic Toolkit addresses this requirement by delivering a solution that helps our customers easily and automatically manage, configure and change complex enterprise applications. Our incorporation of IBM self-managing autonomic technology is another example of mValent’s commitment to partner with industry leaders to provide complete, end-to-end solutions for provisioning and lifecycle configuration management.”
mValent incorporated the Common Base Event format, the IBM Autonomic Management Engine and the IBM Generic Log Adapter from the IBM Autonomic Computing Toolkit into its Infrastructure Automation Suite, providing a more self-managing environment to customers.
The mValent Infrastructure Automation Suite spares IT personnel from having to manage configuration details for infrastructure components like Web servers, application servers and databases. Providing increased visibility, mValent’s technology also offers a convenient way to track and compare configuration settings and automate configuration tasks such as cloning and provisioning infrastructure environments.
